Jade Necklace

This necklace was made with our strong, fade-resistant Brazilian "Fio Encerado" thread. (Click on "Our Materials" for more information.) Slip the necklace over your head and pull the braided ends to tighten. The stone is 1 3/4" long (4 1/4 cm), the weaving is 1 1/4" (3 1/2 cm), the minimum length for the necklace is 12 1/2" (32 cm) and the maximum length is 27 1/2" (70 cm). Jade is one of the few stones that is mined and worked in Ecuador itself; it can be found in the province of Carchi near the mountainous border with Colombia.
