Pyroengraved Leather Bracelets

Pyrography ("writing with fire") is the art of creating designs with a hot poker. All of these bracelets were created with a heated piece of metal held in a wooden shaft.

All the leather pieces used for these bracelets are actually scraps: leatherworking shops in Medellín, Colombia cut large pieces out of naturally uneven material and are left with smaller pieces, unusable for them, which are punched into the shape you see below.
Recycled Plastic Bag Bracelets

Great for the beach, great for parties...and great for keeping trash out of landfills! In Colombia, water is often sold in plastic bags. (They're mutant cousins of the fruit-flavored push-up ice pops that come in plastic bags in North America.) They're cheaper than plastic bottles, and slightly less horrible for the environment since there's hardly any recycling in the country. But still, we're talking about an ungodly amount of plastic headed for landfills or, even worse, local rivers.
Recycled CD Bracelets

Junk mail is everywhere. It's useless, it's annoying, it's wasteful. But at least it can usually be recycled in North America -- though it uses lots of energy, the paper at least isn't totally lost. Junk mail CD's, however, are just thrown in the trash. In order to keep them out of landfills and incinerators, take advantage of their often colorful designs, and send a message to AOL and all the other companies that waste our planet's resources with unwanted software, we've hand-carved these bracelets.
Recycled Wood Bracelets

These loomworked bracelets are made with recycled wooden beads from Colombia.
Pyroengraved Bamboo Bracelets

Bamboo grows so fast in the hot and rainy regions of Ecuador that many people consider it to be a weed! In the past few years a number of ecological projects have started to use bamboo for handicrafts to benefit both the environment and the local community.

These bracelets are made with all-natural bamboo beads in different natural tones. Some are decorated with fried olive pits. All are closed by tying braided ends -- can be worn at any length.
Macramé Wheel Bracelets

These imaginative macrame bracelets, decorated with recycled wooden beads in two different sizes, are sure to please.
Macrame "X" Bracelets

These bracelets present a classic stitch in great colors and strong, long-lasting "Fio Encerado" string.

A South American essential.
