Hand-soldered and Hand-carved Pendants

No molds! No casting! No machines! Just pure, artisanal genius that you can string yourself.

Silver Pendants
Each of these pendants started out as nothing more than little clumps of pure silver in a small shop just outside of Quito. Cristóbal melts them down and mixes them with other metals so the final product will be strong, then he pours them onto a piece of wax to make a thick nugget. From there, each piece is hand-laminated, manipulate and soldered by the maestro himself. We're sure you will enjoy these unique combinations of imagination and craftsmanship.

Wooden Pendants

The wood used for these pendants came from two sources. The first is our friend's garden in the Chocó region of Colombia, where he has three trees that produce fine wood. We cut small parts of thin branches and then sliced them up into individual pendants.

We got some of the other wood here from a friend of ours who makes absolutely amazing wooden furniture in the province of Manabí along the northern coast of Ecuador. He was kind enough to not only donate his scraps, but also help us cut them up and prepare them to be carved. These pendants have also been coated in paraffin wax.

Tagua Pendants

Tagua, also known as vegetable ivory, has been exported from Ecuador to the Western world for well over a hundred years. It's a small coconut native to the Amazon rainforest that grows in bunches. When it's ripe it's edible, but after the coconut milk inside hardens, it bears a striking resemblance to ivory. To learn more about tagua, click here.

Coconut Pendants

Coconuts are everywhere in Ecuador. People love sticking straws in them to drink out the water, baking with coconut, and even using coconut milk to cook fish and shrimp! The shell's round shape makes it a bit more difficult to work with than other materials, but its strength is unmatched. All of our pendants are hand-polished.
