Wooden Pendants
All of these pieces were hand-carved using a jeweler's saw frame and tiny saw blades. The process begins with a single hole drilled into the material -- the saw blade is slipped through the hole and attatched to the saw blade, and carving can begin. More complex designs require additional holes to be drilled. All pendants have a piece of wire attached for hanging on the necklace or chain of your choosing. We also hope to offer leather necklaces in the near future for stringing pendants. The fine wood used for these pendants came from two sources. The first is our friend's garden in the Chocó region of Colombia, where he has three trees that produce fine wood. We cut small parts of thin branches and then sliced them up into individual pendants. |

Recycled Wooden Pendants
All of these pieces were hand-carved using a jeweler's saw frame and tiny saw blades. The process begins with a single hole drilled into the material -- the saw blade is slipped through the hole and attatched to the saw blade, and carving can begin. More complex designs require additional holes to be drilled. All pendants have a piece of wire attached for hanging on the necklace or chain of your choosing. We also hope to offer leather necklaces in the near future for stringing pendants. The recycled wood we use is "aglomerated" wood from a shop in Medellín. We traded a few carved pieces for a couple dozen triangles. It's made out of tiny pieces of wood scraps. All pieces are hand-polished. |

Necklaces with Fine Tropical Wood
All of these necklaces are woven with super-strong Brazilian "Fio Encerado," a polyester blend originally created for leatherwork. In addition to never fraying or unraveling, the thread also does not fade for years, literally, and regardless of how much sun or water you expose it to -- Roberto's been wearing the same Fio Encerado anklet for five years and it still hasn't worn out. The fine wood used for these pendants came from two sources. The first is our friend's garden in the Chocó region of Colombia, where he has three trees that produce fine wood. We cut small parts of thin branches and then sliced them up into individual pendants. |
